A walk from the city to the Great Eastern returning via the Necropolis. Armed only with a camera phone and rushing around fuelled by coffee, sleeplessness and strong painkillers, these pictures have no artistic merit. It's interesting to note how badly my otherwise good quality Nokia N95 camera copes with Glasgow's characteristic silvery skies.

A fleeting visit to Glasgow, and a long-standing mission to explore the area surrounding the former Maternity Hospital. Again, these are 'phone camera pictures designed to record a walk and not necessarily to produce great art.

A day free to wander Glasgow - by bus, train and on foot. Starting from familiar and safe haunts I headed into the frozen northern suburbs, then west before heading briefly south of the Clyde. It would have felt both disrespectful and unsafe to tote my camera, so these are iPhone pictures of variable quality. A record of a strange and interesting day.

An unexpected trip to Glasgow, and a bus journey into the Gorbals to get away from the rain. Sometimes, not knowing quite where you're going is all part of the fun. For a little while, the sky cleared and the cemetery was bathed in brief autumn sun. Soon after, the furious wind stirred up the leaves and I headed for the next bus back to Town.

I make no secret of my love of wandering in London, and it's one of the few areas of my being where I let just a hint of superstition and unreason wander into my otherwise fairly sensible existence! Over the course of the last few months of 2008 I found myself in the Capital rather often, partly by the necessity of travelling that way, and partly by design. Rather like the Glasgow albums, these will vary from fairly good quality shots to 'phone camera snaps - especially where the locations were not places to be found loitering with cameras on show.

An unexpected wander around one of the 'Magnificent Seven' 19th century London cemeteries, reserved for the burial of dissenters and non-conformists. The haphazard landscapes are well-used by locals and visitors, and it's difficult to feel gloomy in such a splendid bit of parkland within the city.

One miserable day in November 2003, I decided to take some pictures along the route of the A3033, a route which used to begin right outside my front door. Since the new road from the M5 to Weston-super-Mare much has changed, and with it went some fine pre-Worboys signage. These old signs were practically the only mention of this short (approx 1.2 mile) road in Weston.

The A3033 began life as the B3127 (at least, this is it's designation in my 1962 Geographer's Atlas). The A3033 used to begin on the A370 where Locking Road met Ashcombe Road, and provided a shortcut across Weston, or a route to the seafront avoiding the Town Centre. However, when the A370 was downgraded to the B3440 and the new D2 A370 from M5 Junction 21 to Weston was opened, all that changed...

A three-day visit to the Highland capital on the occasion of a major rail trip. The visit coincided with the summer solstice, producing some surprisingly good iPhone pictures during an evening walk along the River Ness.
