gwvedit is a simple front-end to edit the wvdial.conf file - the file which contains details for ISPs/services which the wvdial command line program and the gtkdial GUI dialer use to present options to the user.
Whilst not implementing many of the esoteric options available in wvdial.conf, gwvedit should allow you to:
gwvedit needs superuser/root permissions to write config files, and therefore will not start without this level of priviledge. On some systems this might automatically be set via a GUI password dialog. Otherwise, you may need to ensure you have sufficient permissions to run the program
If gwvedit detects no existing configuration files for wvdial, it will attempt to create one using the wvdialconf program. This will try to detect your modem, and will create a blank config file which gwvedit will then open for editing.
The main window is split into two panes - the left hand side presents the list of services, in the order that they are available to gtkdial. The right hand side shows the details of the current service, and allows these to be edited.
Beneath the service details are buttons which enable you to Apply changes made to the list of services, undo changes made since last apply, or to clear the details of the current service.
Options on the service menu allow you to add a new service, delete the currently selected service, rename or duplicate the selected service, or to move the selected service up or down the list.
The file menu allows you to save your changes to the config file. If you have saved changes this time, this menu will also allow you to revert these changes to the last backup saved.
